The school & its community

Ivy Bank is at the heart of the local community, providing service to local organisations and working with its partners to create a range of opportunities for its students. Regular visits from church groups enliven assemblies while local industrialists sponsor activities and join lessons. We offer an expanding list of activities from study groups to art classes for people living in the local area. We are also a venue for visiting theatre and musical groups. Every year sees active involvement with charitable organisations; the Council for Voluntary Services is supported through our annual Harvest Festival Service.

Student Management

The aim of the pastoral system is to allow each student to allow each student to fulfil her or his potential in a happy and secure environment led by one of the Deputy Heads, the system is run by the year managers who take overall responsibility for one year group. For parents, the first point of contact with the school is the form tutor. We are always willing to arrange appointments for parents to come into school and discuss their concerns with us and we would urge anyone with a problem not to delay in referring it to us.

In general, we encourage students to exercise self discipline at all times. The atmosphere in the school is friendly and purposeful but we do insist that high standards of behaviour are observed by everyone. We trust that parents who choose Ivy Bank will support the school's approach to discipline. Our code of conduct is based on courtesy, consideration, care and efficiency within the school community. We prefer to reward rather than punish and we expect everyone to behave in a responsible manner at all times.
