The school welcomes children of all abilities and has established the right for all its students to be valued equally.

The Governing body seeks to ensure that children with special educational needs, whether physical, sensory, intellectual, social or emotional, receive appropriate educational provision.

Each child's educational needs are identified and recorded and regular reviews are made of progress. Whenever possible each child's special educational needs are provided for in a mainstream class and use is made of Lancashire Education Authority's Support services where appropriate.

Ivy Bank High School is the designated school for hearing impaired children in East Lancashire and has its own Hearing Support Department which is in the charge of Mrs P. Rowbottom.

Further details of our provision for children with special educational needs can be provided by Mrs C Marsden, the School's Learning Support Manager. The school's S.E.N. Policy is available to interested parents on request.
